FILLY AND THE FLOPS
Filly and the Flops is a five piece rockin’ rhythm and blues combo who know how to put the dipt in the dipty dipty dip! Led by vocalist Felicity Hamer, the band boasts a jazzmatazz chorus of rhythm boys – Eddy Blake Eaton on the stand-up bass, Gabriel Lambert on electric guitar, Kevin McNeilly on acoustic guitar and Miles Dupire-Gagnon on drums.
EDDY BLAKE AND THE HONKY TONK HEARTBREAKERS
The Honky Tonk Heartbreakers are a five piece garage-a-billy sensation, which features Eddy’s tub-thumping bass and croon-holler vocals, the twanging guitars of Chris Reid, the soul-singing steel of John Misrahi, the snappy rhythm of Jim Dube and the be-boppin drums of Eric Thibodeau. It’s all about the tunes, the beat, and having a good time in general!
Katie Moore is an uncompromising songstress whose haunting music defies quick categorization; it lies somewhere in the no-man’s-land between folk, soul, R&B, and Americana. Built around a persuasive simplicity, each song is anchored by her voice. “I often get asked how long I have been singing for, and I don’t know how to answer that,” says Katie. “How long have you been breathing? It’s just a natural thing I do. I love it.” That much is obvious— enchanting, earthy, pure, real, open; these are some of its descriptors.
The Jimmyriggers are built around the songwriting talents of bass player David Pearce and guitarist Andre Kirchhoff and the colour of maverick guitar slinger Kevin Moquin. The Montreal-based alt-country band counterpoint their full electric sound and powerful rhythms with strong melodic song structures. It is their trademark harmonies, however, that truly lend the band its unique sound, with Pearce’s clenched fist-in-velvet glove vulnerability dovetailing with Kirchhoff’s more honey-dipped tones.
