If 2012 wasn’t a big enough year for Ellie and Louise Macnamara aka Heathers, having recorded their second album with producer Max Dingel (White Lies) and signing a global deal with Universal Music Publishing UK, 2013 is continuing at pace their non-stop rise internationally.

Following on from the success of the album’s first single ‘Forget Me Knots’ from the girls’ Choice Music nominated second album; Kingdom in their home country of Ireland, Heathers have been busy finalising their record label and distribution channels around the world.

After the great success of first single ‘Forget Me Knots’ on Canadian radio, Sony Music Canada released the album on April 16th to coincide with Heathers’ first headliner show in Toronto. Heathers are also delighted to have signed to Warner Music for Central Europe where ‘Forget Me Knots’ will be released July 5th. The album is also set for release over coming months in the UK, Japan, Scandinavia and North America.

They have also been experiencing tremendous success in the world of Film & TV, with ‘Forget Me Knots’ – along with the highly evocative “Listen Don’t Speak” both featured in the same episode of 90210 on CBS in the US recently. This followed other placements of their music on the hit US TV show Mob Wives on VH1, as well as The Voice, X Factor, Waterloo Road and various others in the UK.

February marked a particularly special occasion when Heathers were invited to perform for Steven Spielberg and JJ Abrams at the Oscar party of the Hollywood director in Santa Monica as part of a wider tour of the US.

Their debut album ‘Here, Not There‘ garnered widespread acclaim internationally amongst both fans and media alike for its unique melodic hooks and extraordinary vocals. The album achieved Gold sales status in Ireland and received a further boost when the lead single ‘Remember When’ was used on a major Discover Ireland TV and Radio ad campaign. The track in question was dubbed the “soundtrack to the Irish summer” and became a #1 single for Heathers.

The success of that debut album resulted in two summer length tours in the USA, which developed into further invites to perform at CMJ festival in New York, Canadian Music Week in Toronto, as well as European festivals such as Eurosonic, The Great Escape, Camden Crawl, Oxygen and Belsonic.

Also in the UK they played as part of HMV’s Next Big Thing, and performed two brilliantly-received shows at Camden Crawl Festival London in addition to a sell-out headline show at London’s Barfly supported by live sessions and airplay support from BBC Radio 1 (Nick Grimshaw and Fearne Cotton), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), BBC Radio 2 (Graham Norton & Janice Long), in addition to XFM, Absolute Radio and others.
