Shannon Rose & the Thorns (CD Release of SEASONS)

“[Shannon Rose] is a fantastic singer-songwriter, and has a way of transporting the listener to another, calmer place.” (Ottawa Citizen)

“I could tell you that her music is entirely emotive, grounded and smooth in character, not to mention the delicate, ephemeral quality of Shannon’s voice, and the exceptional clarity of vocal and instrumental performances on the EPs, but I’d almost rather just put on her collection of seasonal EPs and drift away. Enchanting, embracing, and eagerly eloquent: this is Shannon Rose and the Thorns.” (Independent Music News)

“Folky/country influences come through loud and clear on these marvels, combining to make a release that’s way better than the average independent folk record. Seriously, singer/songwriters are a dime a dozen, but Shannon Rose is above most of the ones I’ve heard.” (Bloody Underrated)

Folk / Rock / Alt-Country

"Melodies that you can hum along to and lyrics that will touch your brain..." Amanda Putz - CBC Bandwidth

"We can’t help but listen to the tight-knit group and be reminded of the likes of Wintersleep, Dan Mangan and Great Lake Swimmers... a well-produced album full of musical variation with dips and peaks... It’s evident there’s some sure talent present, and genre blending has been catapulted to new heights." Brontë Martin - The Main MTL

By 2011, what had begun as a solo outlet for veteran songwriter Erik Lind had evolved into The Orchard - a four-piece outfit delivering soothing folk-tinged indie pop rock with a growing fan base in their hometown. Guitarist Mikael Tobias, bassist Lisa Dee Perusse, and drummer Michel Aubinais join Lind to create a lush, melodic sound.

In the early spring of 2012, the foursome headed into Montreal's Treatment Room Studio (Plants & Animals, The Acorn, Angela Desveaux) to begin laying down tracks for a self-produced EP. From there, work continued through much of the summer in the familiar confines of Tobias's home studio. The end result, the Great White North EP, offers a concise introduction to Lind's earnest, bittersweet songwriting.
